DLP before submission and policy during AI use

Tenet vs Lightspeed

Put DLP to work before student data reaches AI.

Tenet's on-device data loss prevention (DLP) checks supported content before submission. Redact supported identifiers, warn users, or stop a send under district policy, while keeping ordinary DLP processing local. Combine that protection with classroom AI rules and optional blocking of detected unapproved AI interfaces.

Why Tenet

AI governance built around your district.

Pre-submission DLP

Tenet's DLP actions can warn, redact supported identifiers, or stop a send before content reaches the provider. Make the privacy decision during the interaction, with coverage tied to the supported content path.

Local processing and pseudonymization

Ordinary on-device DLP does not send raw prompts, raw file contents, or real-to-pseudonym mappings to TrueMadeAI's backend. District adds roster-aware context and pseudonymization where supported.

Connect policy to the classroom

Tenet District adds grade, class, teacher, subject, period, roster, and schedule context. Start with a free Basic baseline, then add the differentiation your district needs.

Your school day, with Tenet

A copied paragraph should not become a student-data disclosure.

Example workflow: a user pastes a paragraph containing a fictional student's name and email address into an approved AI tool. Demonstrate Tenet's DLP action before submission and inspect what the provider receives. That is the protection your district is buying.

Data loss prevention built into Tenet

Warn. Redact. Stop the send.

An approved AI tool still needs rules for student information. Tenet's on-device DLP applies your district's decision before supported content is submitted.

Warn before sharing

Give users a chance to address sensitive information before they send it, with DLP warnings governed by your district's policy.

Redact personal identifiers

Replace supported identifiers with tokens or session pseudonyms. Tenet District adds roster-aware context to strengthen protection of student information.

Stop prohibited submissions

Stop a send when Tenet's DLP checks trigger your district's block policy. Keep the approved AI tool available for appropriate work.

Included in free Tenet Basic and Tenet District. Ordinary on-device DLP does not send raw prompts, raw file contents, or real-to-pseudonym mappings to TrueMadeAI's backend. Sanitized operational metadata can leave the device. Actions vary by policy, role, surface, and content type; files, images, and voice have separate coverage boundaries.

About this comparison

Lightspeed here means Lightspeed Systems for schools. The comparison considers Filter's AI Prompt Capture & Reporting and the broader AI governance portfolio, including Classroom, Insight, and Alert. Tenet covers direct AI use on managed Chrome.

Availability: Lightspeed's March 24, 2026 Prompt Capture article uses early-access language; its current AI governance pages describe broader capabilities. Confirm today's release status and tenant eligibility. The article's read-only limitation applies to Prompt Capture, not automatically to the whole Lightspeed portfolio. Read the dated sources.

This comparison uses public product documentation, not a head-to-head lab test. Check Tenet's capability matrix for coverage and test results. Live vendor control results in the current register remain unverified.

The case for Tenet

Why choose Tenet?

Your priority is the policy outcome

Evaluate Tenet when the requirement is to guide a supported AI interaction, restrict a prohibited request, or handle sensitive information before submission. Build the demonstration around the action your policy calls for.

You want a smaller routine content footprint

Keep ordinary DLP processing on the device and routine conversations out of TrueMadeAI servers. Give district teams useful operational evidence without building a routine transcript archive in Tenet.

You need AI rules that reflect the lesson

Tenet District gives you a policy model with classroom and schedule context. Demonstrate the teaching scenarios that matter, then qualify Tenet alongside the Lightspeed services your district retains.

Start with DLP and one district-wide policy, free. Tenet Basic includes both on supported paths. Move to Tenet District for classroom, roster, teacher, and schedule context. Compare Tenet plans.

Put Tenet to work in a pilot.

  1. Distinguish capture, alert, block, and redact

Use fictional sensitive information and an intentionally restricted test request. Record which system logs the event, alerts a person, prevents submission, or transforms content, and what reaches the AI provider. Do not score all four as the same capability.

  2. Review content access and retention

Use test administrators with different roles. Verify who can view and export content, how deletion works, and which records remain in the filter, Tenet, district storage, and AI provider. Record contractual answers where the pilot cannot establish behavior.

  3. Repeat across the required device mix

Do not carry a managed-Chromebook result into a Windows browser or native app. Record the device, browser, client version, provider account, and each input path; mark untested combinations unverified.

Bring your classroom rules and approved AI tools. Use fictional data to see DLP, redaction, and policy decisions in action. Book your Tenet demo or get the pilot checklist.

Questions districts ask

What does Tenet's DLP do before an AI submission?

On supported paths, Tenet checks content locally and can warn, redact supported identifiers, or stop a send. This is different from recording an interaction after it happens. Tenet Basic includes DLP; District adds roster-aware context and pseudonymization where supported.

Is Lightspeed AI Prompt Capture the same as prompt filtering?

Lightspeed's linked article describes Prompt Capture as a read-only reporting feature. That statement does not characterize every capability in Filter or the wider portfolio. Ask the vendor to show which configured feature performs the required action.

Does Tenet provide a full AI transcript archive?

Routine prompts and responses in this managed-browser workflow are not sent to TrueMadeAI servers. If your district requires a full transcript archive, evaluate that requirement explicitly rather than treating sanitized operational reporting as an equivalent.

Should a district replace Lightspeed with Tenet?

Not based on this comparison alone. Broad filtering, device coverage, classroom management, and safety response remain separate procurement requirements. Evaluate Tenet against a specific unmet AI policy or data-handling need.
